TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Introduction

Technical Advisory Committees (TAC’s) have been set up as per Section 7 of the MAURITAS Act 1998. Five (5) main committees have been constituted for the following:

  • General/Chemical Testing;
  • Medical Testing;
  • Calibration;
  • Microbiological Testing; and
  • Certification Body.

Objectives

The objectives of the TAC are to

i. prepare guidelines for the interpretation of ISO/IEC 17025 for the general/chemical testing sector, ISO 15189 for the medical test and ISO/IEC 17021-1 for certification sector;

ii. take cognizance of technical criteria established in other countries in the fields of general/chemical, medical testing and certification; and

iii. consult other stakeholders as and when required.


Output

A three-year work programme has been drafted for each committee and meetings are on-going.
